CITINEX (Citicoline Tablets & Injection)

DESCRIPTION

CITINEX is is a psychostimulant/nootropic, prescribed for Parkinson’s disease, cerebrovascular disorders and head injury. It increases dopamine receptor densities and helps prevent memory impairment resulting from poor environmental conditions. It improves focus and elevates mental energy and is useful in the treatment of attention deficit disorder. Administration of Citicoline also improves memory retention and counteracts neuronal degeneration.

DOSAGE

PO- The recommended dose is 250-2000 mg per day in divided doses.
IV/IM – The recommended dose is up to 1000 mg per day.

CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY

CITINEX is approved for treatment in cases of head trauma, stroke and neurodegenerative disease. It improves visual function in patients with glaucoma and amblyopia. It boosts dopamine in the central nervous system and increases glucose metabolism in the brain and cerebral blood flow.

INDICATIONS

Memory Disorders, Head trauma, Ischemic strokes, Blood flow, etc.

CONTRA INDICATIONS

Known hypersensitivity to the drug, otherwise there are no contra indications.

SIDE EFFECTS

Minor transient adverse effects are rare and most commonly include stomach ache.

AVAILABILITY

CITINEX is available in strips of ten tablets containing Citicoline 500 mg Tablets & also in five ampoules of 2ml containing Citicoline 500mg as Injection for IM & IV. It is also available in a second brand by the name of CITISET-500.
