CLOBANEX -10 (Clobazam Tablets)

DESCRIPTION

CLOBANEX is an anticonvulsant and anxiolytic used for treating epilepsy and seizure disorders. It is approved for use as an adjunctive therapy in epilepsy and in acute and chronic anxiety for patients who do not respond to first line drugs. It is also administered as an adjunctive agent in schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders to manage anxiety or agitation.

DOSAGE

The recommended dose is 20-30 mg/day, up to 60 mg/day for severe conditions.

CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY

CLOBANEX works by enhancing GABA activated chloride currents. It is also proved that these effects were inhibited by GABA antagonist flumazenil and that Clobazam acts most efficiently in GABA deficient brain tissue.

INDICATIONS

CLOBANEX is generally prescribed as an add-on use for seizure disorders, epilepsy and anxiety.

CONTRA INDICATIONS

Clobazam should be used with great care in patients with sleep apnea, liver diseases or respiratory problems.

SIDE EFFECTS

Drowsiness, fatigue, tremors, nausea or dizziness could be some of the side effects of the drug.

CLOBANEX is available in strips of ten tablets containing Clobazam I.P. 10mg.
