CLOMINEX-50/SR-75 (Clomipramine HCl. Tablets)

DESCRIPTION

CLOMINEX is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) prescribed for obsessive-compulsive disorder. It increases the amount of serotonin that needs to maintain mental balance.

DOSAGE

Initial dose is 25mg once a day at bedtime, maintenance dose may be 100-150mg per day and maximum dose is 250mg per day.

PHARMACOLOGY

CLOMINEX is presumed to influence obsessive and compulsive behaviuors through its effects on serotonergic neuronal transmission. Its capacity to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) is considered to be significant.

INDICATIONS

Some of the indications are Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Cataplexy, Enuresis, Sleep Paralysis, Depersonalization Disorder,

Premature ejaculation and chronic pain

CONTRA INDICATIONS

It is contraindicated in patients with recent heart attack hypersensitivity and it should not be given in combination, or within14 days before or after treatment, with a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor, who are taking linezolid or intravenous methylene blue. However, Clomipramine can be initiated 48 hours upon discontinuation of  Moclobemide.

Known hypersensitivity to clomipramine, or any of the excipients or cross-sensivity to tricyclic antidepressants of the dibenzazepine group.

 SIDE EFFECTS

Some minor side effects could be fatigue, increased or decreased weight, fever, chills, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea and vomiting.

AVAILABILITY

CLOMINEX is available in strips of ten tablets containing Clomipramine 50mg & in strips of ten sustained release tablets containing Clomipramine 75mg.
